Recent Tripadvisor reviews of the resort Stowe Mountain Lodge do not leave the timeshare resort and hotel standing in a very good light.  One of the guests first visit to the resort was definitely not what they were expecting for the 5-star price that they paid.  This hotel is rated as 5 star, unfortunately after reading this guests review, many would be left questioning that star rating.

First and foremost, the experience on arrival was rather unhelpful, the guest states;
We arrived and even though I asked several times if there were any room upgrades, I felt misunderstood and pushed thru the registration.”
 Not the best way to receive your guests for the first time.  I think it is fair to say that all reception staff know what the term ‘upgrade’ means.  The fact that they were brushed off would lead you to believe that there were no rooms available, or that there were, but they were saving them for other guests?

Further to their unpleasant check-in, the room that they were taken to at first, was dirty.  There were food particles all over the salons floor, and dirty socks behind the curtains.  You would think that there is extra effort put into the cleaning of a 5-star property, so as to keep it up to the standard it should be in, but it seems that extra mile was completely lost at this resort.  That is the extra commitment that it would usually take to convince a guest that they may want to purchase a timeshare week.  However, no-one would want to invest in a week here after this introduction, and the disappointments just kept coming.

The second room that they were shown to, also had a blob of hair in the shower, and the lights were flickering.  They eventually stayed in this room, feeling a bit dismayed at the price they had payed for the hotel stay.  The review goes on to say that even the food options were very limited, and the service could have been a lot better.

There were several poor reviews for this resort during August 2016, one would imagine that Timeshare resorts that have owners paying maintenance and charging their other guests 5-star hotel prices would most definitely have better standards than these.  It leaves a lot to be said for those resorts that are now changing from full timeshare properties to selling a percentage of their rooms as normal hotels, whether or not the same standard is able to be met.  It also leaves the question as to whether Timeshare Owners are now getting the rough end of the stick.

If any of you have had similar experiences, we would love to hear from you.
