JEDDAH News— A Saudi citizen said that a Timeshare company in Dubai is promoting timeshare contracts and has cheated more than 10,000 clients, including a large number of Saudis, with fake contracts.

He claims that the consumer victims have lost more than 14 million dirhams due to the selling of fake contracts, which the company claimed were registered with lands and property department in Dubai.

In contrast victims later discovered the contracts they bought were fake and that they had fallen victim to an elaborate scam. Majed Kutbi, a citizen, said he purchased four timeshare contracts two years ago and paid the company around 1 million dirhams. When he discovered that the contracts was fake; he filed a complaint with the land and property department in Dubai. He pointed out that, “courts in Dubai require a payment of 7.5 percent of a contract’s value”, which is a large sum that he cannot afford to pay, in addition to lawyers’ fees.

Timeshare and the selling of some of the products have proven to be (all over the world) corrupt and illegal yet governments do little to stop them. Quite  the reverse they exact from the impecunious consumers heavy court fees so as to obtain what should be a consumers right to bring these thieves to book.

They do gives us Laws which are generally ignored by the charlatans who dip pockets day after day, week after week and year after year then run to the safe havens.

Timeshare attracts the wrong type of salesman, the wrong type of image and mandates with teeth have to be immediately implemented. Ripping people off is at epidemic levels, they are everywhere and consumers should wake to the fact that timeshare salesmen pedalling immoral contracts with skill exists and affects everyone. Every consumer who feels the slightest pressure should consult, consult and consult before the every sign a timeshare of Long term holiday product contract, or hand over any money.
