MRL Action Group Update

 

The TCA has been asked to give an update in respect to the Action group and By Athena Law.

Message from Mr Boyd

We have taken steps to progress matters on your behalf, and in particular have begun reviewing all files, and we have had preliminary discussions with Counsel who will be assisting us in preparing the letter before action. We appreciate that it is important that you are all keep updated regularly, and the Group is effectively managed so as to enable this firm to progress the actual litigation. With this in mind we have been talking to, and intend to shortly appoint, a third party that specialises in managing large group actions (Litigation Management Limited) – http://www.litigationmanagement.co.uk/

Regarding matters generally the timeframe going forward is as follows:

  1. Review of all client files, and preparation of Claimant database –  3 weeks
  2. Engagement of Litigation Management Services Limited to manage the growing Group – 6 weeks
  3. Preparation and delivery of Letter before Action to MRL – 6 weeks

We are doing our best to move matters forward as quickly as possible, with a view to at least setting out the substance of the claim by early January 2015. When considering this timeframe we would be obliged if you would bear in mind the fact that we have substantial documents to review , are having to agree terms and scope of retainer with Litigation Management Limited, brief Counsel, draft the letter before action and deal with the impending Christmas holidays!
