As we have reported before Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is certainly one timeshare developer that has worked hard to build a solid reputation as a quality provider of timeshare. The transparency of their sales process, costs and maintenance charges put other developers to shame. Factor in that Disney are one of the few developers to offer a fair buyback scheme for those owners who, for whatever reason, decide to exit their ownership.

Is it any wonder that most DVC resorts are sold out with many having waiting lists for prospectice purchasers. Naturally with such a popular product DVC wish to capitalise on their already succesful business model by expansion, and that’s exactly what they are doing.

The already established Polynesium Village resort is opposite the Magic Kingdom theme park in the Bay Lake area. According to DVC it’s in this area that the new expansion will take place. According to a DVC press release on 16th March, the new Disney Vacation Club villas at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are planned for opening in 2024.

The new villas will be located on the edge of the man made waterway, Seven Seas Lagoon, and be part of the owner favourite monorail resorts. This is the same area where Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa are located.

“It’s no secret that our Members and Guests love the monorail resorts at Walt Disney World,” said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Vacation Club, in a statement. “Expanding our Disney Vacation Club offerings at the Polynesian would give our Members and Guests yet another incredible option for staying close to the magic while making vacation memories that last a lifetime.”

Since 2015, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows has been a favourite resort destination, offering an island paradise in the middle of the magic. Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows currently has 380 Disney Vacation Club villas, including the largest Deluxe Studios of any DVC resort at Walt Disney World and not forgetting the unique two-bedroom Bora Bora Bungalows, located over the waters of the Seven Seas Lagoon – the first of their kind for Disney.

Historically, Disney has opened more than 16 resorts with varying themes, room sizes, and point values. It’s estimated that there are more than 250,000 Disney Vacation Club member families.

Comment

This announcement was only made on the 16th March so is hot off the press and even as we pen this article we are in no doubt that pre sales and reservations are already happening. Who would have thought that a cartoon mouse who made his debut in 1928 would be one of the primary reasons that both the Disney Company and now DVC would become as enormous and popular as they are? It seems buying a slice of a rodent, not even a real rodent is today just as appealing as it has always been.
