Following on from the TCA’s article dated 12th May called Access Legal Cold Calling, Inside Timeshare have done some further investigation and published further findings regarding the company.

They state that three years ago they attempted to verify Access Legal as the same cold call allegations had emerged from numerous timeshare owners, as it has again recently.

The answer from Access Legal was no, they were not cold calling timeshare owners.  More recently they have been asked again and been able to give more information.

There is another company, that has historically operated from the Costa del Sol and registered in Gibraltar called Access Legal Services.

This could be yet another example of how a timeshare scam can operate.  A cold calling / scam company can open up, using a very slight variation on a legitimate company’s trading name.

If this is the case for Access Legal / Access Legal Services, it means that when a client is called and in this day and age naturally Google’s the company, they find quite a reputable company’s website.

As yet, no web presence seems to be found for Access Legal Services registered in Gibraltar.

The most obvious way to check that you have been contacted by the legitimate company is to ask for any offer in writing, preferably by email as you can then check who is sending the email and if it doesn’t match the legitimate website domain name you know there is something a miss.  Be vigilant when checking the domain name as you will often find in a scam that the legitimate company’s website domain will be www.example.com yet the email will be sent from x@example.net, with just a slightly different ending to try and fool you once again.
