The TCA has been following the story of the Madeira Regency Palace since we were contacted by consumers back in May.

As many of you will be aware, the MRP closed its doors on the 30th June this year without any official communication.

Since then the TCA has posted multiple articles on this matter following the daily calls made from Consumers seeking advice and support.

It seems that people have been listening to us which is great to see!

If you feel alone in this matter, don’t!

The Madeira Blog has allowed a comments section under their article on MRP for Consumers who wish to comment and discuss.

This comments section has rocketed with dozens of MRP consumers taking to it to discuss/share and explain how they have dealt with closure of the hotel.

You can gain access to this blog HERE

From the telephone calls the TCA has received and the amount of comments relating to it, it seems that utilising Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act in order to gain compensation has been a saviour for a lot of people.

(If you need a reminder on how to make a Section 75 claim – see HERE)

The most successful claims have come from;

RBS

Halifax

Lloyds banking group

Nat West

Santander

Barclaycard

There were some teething problems initially regarding the banks not being able to establish the current position of the MRP however, the TCA has received several calls from these banks and we have been able to get them on the right path.
