Back in October last year we reported on what appeared to be an operational partnership between the mighty Wyndham group and Club la Costa well things are now starting to move at pace. CLC resorts are one by one being rebranded with Wyndham brands including signage etc. Whilst CLC World still has its own web presence we noted that Wyndham have started to promote all the CLC resorts on their own website with the site being titled Wyndham Grand Residences. Not only does the site feature the CLC Grand Residence properties but also features other resorts in Tenerife and Turkey.

For some time CLC had a property sales website called Club la Costa Estates, this has been rebranded to IDILIQ a play on word idyllic. This appears to be a separate entity as the office address is not the same as the previous CLC Estates; it’s now based in the jet setters playground of Puerto Banus near Marbella. On the surface IDILIQ appear to be general estate agents but the following statement from their website makes it clear:

“The successful development, marketing, and sales of over 2000 new properties across southern Spain, the UK, Turkey, and the USA in collaboration with Europe’s largest independent resort builder – a relationship that has culminated in a master agreement with Wyndham/Ramada Hotels & Resorts.”

This confirmed by a banner also displayed on the website:

How long will it be before the Club la Costa brand passes into the annuls of timeshare history?

Our thoughts

From what initially seemed to be a sort of franchise, this is now taking on what looks like a possible complete takeover. As reported previously CLC have been the subject of a phenomenal amount of negative court judgements in Spain that have resulted in demands for financial awards to owners who were issued contracts in direct contravention of Spanish law. CLC took the devious steps to place its sales companies into liquidation to avoid paying their liabilities but believe us when we say that trying to sweep this problem under the carpet is unlikely to provide the escape route planned.

Given that in any business, reputation is all important, because of the problems highlighted above CLC has been rapidly losing its reputation. Much the same as the sliding reputation of Diamond Resorts, by absorbing them into Hilton Grand Vacations and wiping out the Diamond brand then relying on short memories, problem solved. Will the Wyndham CLC scenario turn out the same, only time will tell but the writing is certainly on the wall. Below we list the resorts and their rebrand  names.
