For one unhappy couple their holiday hounding began immediately as they arrived at The Grand Mayan Riviera Maya. After a long 12-hour journey starting at 3.00am the couple arrived at the hotel just wanting to get into their room to leave their baggage, freshen up and go eat however after asking several times to “please let us get in our room” with no success they decided to just head down to the lobby for some food as they had not eaten all day only to be followed by staff hounding them to come into a presentation.

The next morning whilst trying to relax the couple was yet again hounded by phone calls from the sales team at the hotel, the couple quote on Trip Advisor “Then as I am laying in bed this morning trying to sleep in for the first time in weeks and the room phone rings. Yep you guest it. They are at it again. They have called 3 times already this morning. I just unplugged our room phone”

Going by other Trip Advisor reviews although the hotel and rooms are to a very high standard which many describe as “beautiful” this is how many couples and families feel when visiting this resort. It seems that it is only the sales team who are ruining many people’s holidays to this resort and giving it a bad name!

This complaint was only posted the day after their arrival and as of yet we have no update on how the rest of their holiday went.

It seems that Orlando World Center Marriott also have a sales team which call their guests in their rooms to try and mislead them into attending a Timeshare presentation. This guest which was staying at the resort for a conference was not only slightly disappointed with the hotel its self but also was very unhappy about the telephone call he received when he was in his room, he stated “The room was only ok, seemed a little outdated, ac a little noisy but overall ok for the conference rate. The most annoying part were the calls from the timeshare people. We received a call in the morning from someone claiming they have a “welcome gift”, when we went to inquire about it the obnoxious lady tried to lure us into coming to a “tour” as she called it.”

Other guests staying at the hotel for the conference was lured into purchasing a Timeshare (which is for a different hotel so they would not even be returning to the Marriott Orlando World Center) however despite them calling him again the evening before he was due to leave to yet again try and convince him with a “Vacation Package deal” this clever guest did not sign up to anything.
