The San Francisco Exchange Company (SFX) is just another in a long list of timeshare companies that are seemingly swindling their clients.  As one such customer has reported, they attended a presentation in Cabo San Lucas at which they purchased a ‘Package’ that contained a ‘membership to SFX’ as part of the deal.

Sometime later the couple realised that they had been mis-sold, they tried to use their timeshare membership on several occasions, and realised that it was almost impossible to use.  They also discovered that there was not one piece of paper in the contract that related to the membership that they had purchased.

Further to this sale, Mrs was contacted by SFX and told that the membership that they had was actually cancelled, and unless there was a sum of $500 they would lose the membership and the original $2000 down payment that they had made.  Mrs felt the need to pay this further sum so that they could continue fighting their case against the company.  She feared that she would lose everything as SFX had said on the phone.

In the end, as this couple were extremely persistent, and wanted to make sure their story was heard by everyone including government and media officials, SFX did finally pay out. The couple received a full refund for the timeshare product, however they are now posting on multiple forums, blogs and social media to share their story so that the same does not happen to another.

At the TCA we believe in aiding unhappy timeshare owners, and have decided to share this story, you may also want to have a look at some of the articles that we have written this year on how to avoid potential timeshare scams;
