Why does the timeshare industry have so many Consumer associations and advice centres?

Why are they so hell bent on giving advice to timeshare owners when good advice will cost you the Consumers money? It’s simple, it’s bad advice.

Many consumers are reporting that the industry is letting people out of Spanish resorts for free. They ask should we listen to them and accept the proposals put? We will therefore explain.

You bought a timeshare and were sold a product. You then joined a club and accordingly signed another contract. Therefore you have 2 contracts.

You seek a termination from the club as it is that club which makes you pay maintenance fees and the resorts are now letting you out so we would advise that you take the offer.

That said, they will not let you out unless you give them the “certificate of ownership”. As it was the seller who sold you the timeshare, the question has to be asked why does the club want the timeshare deed back? If you kept the deed and were out of the club, you could action against the seller for the miss-selling of the timeshare product. But if you give it back to the club you will have no claim. Along with this, you usually have to sign a confidentiality agreement which renders your right to claim for compensation, null and void.

  • So why does the club want the deed which if actioned would cause the developer/seller financial problems?
  • Why are the clubs protecting the developer?
  • Why are the committees assisting the developer and not telling consumers that they have a claim and that claim is substantial?

Because they are controlling the club, maybe? Because a deal has been done behind closed doors maybe? Why would your representatives who you trust want to help a party they are not representing?

Our advice is get out of the clubs, hang on to the deeds and peruse the developer/seller so that you can get the compensation you deserve. The compensation they should pay you and the money you could have been diddled out of.
