News broke right before Christmas that Club La Costa would be closing Hustyns Holiday Resort on the 4th January 2016.

It has been reported that nearly 70 people have either lost their jobs or  had to face the Christmas period, unsure of their future.

The Cornish Guardian stated that “The 70-acre site at St Breock, which centres on a 37-bedroomed hotel with leisure and spa facilities, has been owned and operated by the international timeshare holiday company Club La Costa since 2006. It was put on the market, with a £3million price tag, in September”.

It looks as though CLC have been unable to secure a buyer and have made the decision to close the resort.

A spokesperson said: “CLC World Resorts & Hotels plans to refocus the development of its Cornish operations into Trenython Manor, near Fowey, where planning has already been consented for further lodges which are popular with CLC’s members.

“Hustyns will continue to operate reduced services, including its leisure centre which has a large local membership base, whilst we continue to market the hotel and leisure buildings for sale. Despite securing some positions elsewhere, this reduction in services at Hustyns has regrettably resulted in 66 positions being made redundant in the new year.”
The 70 acre site at St Breoc has a 37 bedroom hotel with leisure and spa facilities.

Some staff will transfer to Trenython Manor near Fowey, but most will be out of work as of the 4th January.

Local MP Scott Mann has offered help to those affected and has urged people to get in touch: “I am happy for anyone affected to contact me should they need assistance with contacting the Department for Work and Pensions, HMRC, etc. as they try to find alternative work.

“The office will be open again on the 4th January and can be contacted on 01208 74337 or email: scott@scottmann.org.uk which is checked daily.”

In light of this unfortunate news, the TCA invited any consumers who have invested at this resort to contact us for details on how to go forward.

We also invite anyone who have received communication from the resort regarding the closure, to come forward so as to assist our investigations.
