You’ve probably heard that strange things happen at sea. These travel insurance claims prove that adage is true.

  • What would happen if you went skiing and the weather didn’t cooperate? That’s the situation a British skier found herself in after she purchased a new pair of skis for her trip. Upon her arrival at the alpine resort, she realized there was no snow. The poor woman headed to the lodge to cry in her hot chocolate before she filed a travel claim, which was approved.

  • When men go to the beach for vacation, they expect to be distracted by beautiful women wearing skimpy bathing suits. One young British man, however, was a little too beguiled. He broke his nose when he walked into a bus shelter. He was staring at a group of women wearing bikinis. His medical expenses were covered

  • While on a holiday in West Africa, one unfortunate traveler suffered a heart attack. To make matters worse, it occurred while he was having sex at a brothel with a prostitute. The man wanted reimbursement because his date was interrupted by his coronary. He felt that he had been cheated. The insurance company was unsympathetic and denied his claim.

  • One older gentleman was serenading the sea when his false teeth popped out of his mouth. His dentures fell into the ocean. It is unknown if his claim was approved.

  • Another man from the United Kingdom filed a £1,000 claim after two coconuts he had purchased abroad were lost on the way home. Considering that coconuts only cost £1.00 each in the U.K. and that bringing coconuts and other foodstuffs into the country is illegal, the man had a lot of nerve. Most likely, he was filing for the mental anguish he suffered when he realized his prized coconuts had gone missing. The claim was rightfully denied.

  • A family on vacation in Cornwall spent a lot of time digging in the sand for their expensive video camera. It seems their children buried it on the beach as a joke. After excavating a large portion of beachfront, the family gave up. Their travel insurance claim was paid.

  • A bride’s dress caught fire as she was partying on a beach with her groom in western India. Her husband gallantly picked her up and threw her into the sea to douse the flames. Her claim for her ruined dress was paid.

  • Who knew that coconuts are more dangerous than sharks? They cause more deaths per year than the toothy predators. A woman had her medical expenses paid after she was conked on the head by a falling coconut in Sri Lanka.

  • The Fire Bar in Greece occasionally is engulfed in flames to the delight of tourists. The world’s most exceptional party trick had unexpected consequences for one hapless woman. She didn’t heed the warning buzzer and waited for her drink at the bar. Her hands received third degree burns, but her insurance paid her medical bills.

  • One intrepid traveler dropped his wallet into a drain during his trip to Israel. There must have been something in there that he valued. He tried fishing it out of the drain, but he was stung by a poisonous scorpion who objected to the man’s intrusion into his home. Insurance covered the man’s medical expenses and his lost wallet.
