There is nothing quite like having to warn your children of how to dodge pickpockets and avoiding exorbitant taxi charges before jetting off on a “relaxing break”.
According to a recent study conducted by Money.co.uk, when it comes to British holidaymakers being double-crossed while abroad, Spain tops the list.
- An independent survey of 2,000 holidaymakers from Britain has concluded that Spain is the worst European Country when it comes to scam artists.
- 37% of people claim that over process taxi rides is the most common scam.
- Common scams reported included pick pocketing and street crime.
- The survey found that 14.8% of those included within the study said that France was the worst EU Country for “ripping you off”.
- 21.5% of British travellers surveyed admitted to falling victim to a tourist scam whilst on holiday in Spain.
- 23% of travellers admitted that they’d been pick-pocketed while on holiday.

“While the UK ranked eighth on the list, with 5.4 per cent of Britons admitting to have fallen victim to a scam even while at home, Cyprus and Armenia appear to be a relatively safe countries in which to let your guard down”.
