It has recently been announced that Mellor Solicitors Ltd, a SRA regulated solicitors practice based in Manchester, have acquired assets from Lansdown Financial Ltd. Including; their work in progress, trading name, telephone numbers, email addresses and websites.

Mellor explain that they have only acquired the details of clients’ whose claims may be processed in the UK, probably predominately Section 75 Consumer Credit Act 1974 claims. They point out that they will have nothing to do with claims that are not within the UK or under UK law.

For Lansdown clients with Spanish claims, Mellor have stated in the emails to their clients that “claims being pursued via Spanish Lawyers or have agreed for the Spanish Lawyers to pursue your claim, please note that these will be two separate claims – Spanish Lawyers will only pursue claims through the Spanish courts and Mellor Solicitors Ltd will only pursue claims within the UK and under UK law. Please do not contact us regarding your claim(s) with the Spanish Lawyers. We will NOT be able to assist you with this and will not have any information regarding this.”

As of yet, it is unclear what will happen to the clients of Lansdown who have been promised claims against timeshare matters in jurisdictions other that of the UK. Furthermore, Mellor appear to have limited resourced to handle all potential Lansdown enquiries at once and have told clients “Please refrain from phoning us “for an update”.” Whilst we understand incoming enquiries will be a drain on resources for Mellor, this must be frustrating for those Lansdown clients left in limbo.

We have been informed that the terms of clients’ contracts will remain unaltered. Mellor have contacted their newly acquired clients to let them know where the progresses of their claims stand.

If you’ve had dealings with Lansdown in relation to timeshare claims and/or timeshare exiting in anywhere other than the UK then we would like to hear your story. There would be nothing worse than paying considerable sums of money for a service that might never be completed.
