Dubai is the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates and is becoming more and more popular with tourists.  Is this due to many now offering this beautiful destination as a timeshare holiday?  Will it only be a matter of time before the con men move in, which they commonly do…..

Since the cities financial decline back in 2008 Dubai has now joined the world of timeshare selling.  The City became like a place that time forgot, which obviously worried residents, international markets, local businesses & traders alike.

This could be a fantastic opportunity depending upon the support offered to potential consumers or an enervating failure. Mohannad Sharafuddin, the founder of the Arabian Falcon Holidays AFH, said: “Dubai is the top destination amongst our timeshare owners from Africa. Efforts of the UAE government in strengthening its economic ties with the African countries proves to yield mutual benefits. One of the vital reasons behind the dynamic UAE-African relations is the robust role Dubai will play. This is reflected through an increase in a number of African tourists coming to the country as a result of more direct flights and easier visa regulations.”

To date it is thought that more than 200,000 Nigerians are frequenting Dubai as a holiday destination, enabling the resorts to continue with their expansion.  Like many developed countries, affluent Africans believe that spending quality time with their families is of the upmost importance, therefore, it is of no surprise that such families are to be targeted by timeshare resorts, locking consumers into sometimes arduous contracts.

With a list of timeshare destinations for Africans, determined by its five-star shopping centers and traditional charms, Arabian Falcon Holidays (AFH) claims to be have the lion’s share of the holiday business in the middle east with a variety of destinations available, therefore marketing timeshare is on the increase.  As rich as it might be, the African projecting reports it signifies 5 per cent of the total incoming tourism market and has the potential to increase this profitable segment, the government has made efforts to inspire financial ties with republics in the African continent.

If Promoted as an “Timeshare investment” with long term benefits, the word ‘timeshare’ has been given the accolade of chief scammer in the holiday industry.  However, we all know this is not the case with every timeshare resort.  Most offer excellent value for money, but like everything there is always a thieve, con artist, shark and charlatan waiting to pounce and waiting to exploit consumers and continually divest consumers of their legal rights.

That said in Dubai it was stated “Considering the advantages to invest in timeshare, owners do not just benefit financially by savings thousands of dirhams, they are also privileged to experience high-quality services,”.

We at TCA hope the laws are in place to simplify the rights that consumers so rightly are entitled too, enabling them to enjoy what they have paid for and entered into.
