TCA have received more complaints about aggressive & unclear sales pitches ‘ANFI style’!!

Yet again, we have had numerous reports with regards to RDO member, Anfi, selling tactics from consumers stating that they are aggressive and un – clear pitches:
One consumer informed TCA that after visiting the Anfi Del Mar and having been shown around the resort, facilities and the rooms, they were informed their purchase would be an ‘investment opportunity’ having had property prices increase.

After having the tour they were then immediately pressured to purchase, and the sales representative insisted they pay on the day with their credit card to ensure they paid the price offered.

Not having brought their credit card details along to the meeting, the sales representative then insisted he personally drove the couple back to their hotel in order to obtain the credit card details.

During the meeting there was absolutely no mention that they were buying into a perpetuity contract and additionally, that they had to pay exchange company fees on top, nor was there any mention that the maintenance fees would increase at such a high rate annually. Furthermore, the consumers were told verbally the property would increase in price and should they ever wish to sell they would purchase the same from the consumer and at the current value.

Subsequently they were never given any time to peruse the agreement before signing nor were they informed that there was a cooling off period. At the signing the couple felt intimidated, and asked was it necessary to have more than 2 reps standing over them whist signing the agreement.

On further visits to the resort they were informed that there was in place a ‘fixed weeks scheme’ in exchange of a more spacious apartment in addition along with floating weeks. At this point there was categorically no mention that the cost of maintenance fees would increase at the time. They also found it difficult to actually book the apartment for any period of stay that suited them. When requesting time they were told that the desired weeks were not available.

The consumers all seem to say, they felt they were mis-sold, with empty promises and intimidating tactics. On top of everything else they say the maintenance fees are now excessive. Anfi should not be allowed to make verbal statements nor be able to use pressure sales tactics.
