Clients of whom entered a contract with Holiday Club Puerto Calma, Gran Canaria have won their case and had their contract declared null and void.

Holiday Club Resorts was founded in 1986 and primarilty focused on the vacation ownership business.  In 1998 the company began operating under the name Holiday Club Finland Oy and then changed again in April 2006 to Holiday Club Resorts Oy.  Holiday Club Resorts Oy has 31 resorts, 23 are located in Finland., two in Sweden and six in Spain.

Holiday Club Resorts Oy boast on their website that;

During the financial year 2013–2014, the group recorded a turnover of €124 million and employed 722 people

Hopefully not all of this turnover is through the selling of illegal contracts.

The ruling, which was held by the High Court 4 of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, ordered that Holiday Club must pay the Norwegian clients a sum of more than €17,000 in compensation with the return of their maintenance fees and double the deposit they initially paid.

This is an important case, as it shows yet another timeshare company’s contract is illegal and opens the door for many other people with the same ownership to make a successful claim.

This is a great achievement for these owners, and for other timeshare owners in similar situations that could be looking to re-coup their initial payouts and more.
